Hi,
I'm new here. I have installed KixStart recently. The system works fine but i can't configure outbox/inbox email functionalities.

We use O365 in the office. I also tried with my dummy gmail account, without success.

When I setup smtptls I got smtp authentication failed: 5377.7.8 Username and Password not accepted.

I'm not sure what might be the source of the problem

Thank you for support

Hi,

have you read this guide?  OAuth2 Profiles - KIX 18 Admin Manual (EN) - KIX Dokumentation

Office 365 usually does not take a username /password anymore but rather OAuth.
Furthermore you have to enable SMTP and IMAP for the user as this is usually disabled for new users...

Cheers,
Frank

Hi,
Thank you for your message.

I've set up the server without secure protocol (https). That was the easiest and fastest way to start using the tool.

The server is running in the azure cloud, we don't have any cerfiticates as of now.

Is it the only way to setup incoming/outgoing email handling?

I'm afraid Office 365 is only giving you the OAuth2 way to receive mails. For SMTP I'm not sure, as the last time I dealt with Office 365 was early 2023.

Google Mail on the other hand should give you the possibility to create an app password that is different from the account password. This can be used with username/password for IMAP and SMTP.

Hello Jacek,

if you want to integrate Office 365 with KIX, the following might help you: Office 365 usually no longer supports simple username/password authentication and relies on OAuth2 instead. You should also check whether the SMTP and IMAP protocols are enabled for your user in Office 365, as these are often disabled by default.

Since your server does not currently use HTTPS and runs in Azure, this can be a problem for secure authentication. Without HTTPS, some features may be limited. It would be ideal to integrate an SSL certificate for the server to ensure a secure connection.

For the Gmail attempt: Gmail unfortunately no longer allows third-party access, so this integration is no longer possible.

I hope this helps you!

Best regards
Dennis

Not only this but he cannot setup OAuth2 without https, as Office 365 only allows https return pages if the domain is not localhost.

Thank you for your reply.
Will it work with self signed certificates?

Frank Niethardt

The return page is only viewed in your browser. So it will work with every certificate your browser accepts...

Thank you for support.
It works as designed.
